Teatime With the Gods (Profiler Crossover)

This story arc could be considered to be my magnum opus. Overall, it's the largest story in my Complete Works. These four stories, and the unwritten fifth story, Goal Oriented, tell the central story for my Disconnected universe, which stretches beyond these stories to influence quite a few of my other stories.

Roller Coaster was actually the second story of the four to be written. I always describe these stories as an "arc," rather than a "series," because that's the shape they take. This story describes the buildup which leads to the disasters of In the Rough.

This story contains some very heavy duty damage of several kinds. It is definitely life-changing for Daniel and Jack, and possibly for others as well. Pay attention to the rating, and if you are concerned about the content, please read the notes.

Disconnected was the very first story I wrote. At the time, I figured it would be the only story I would ever write. So much for my predictive abilities ;^) Here we see the corner turned. Things just couldn't get any worse for Jack and Daniel, so the only way to go is up, right?

I love this story, and it almost didn't happen. My wonderful beta readers gently pointed out to me that, with all of the terrible things I was doing to Jack and, particularly, Daniel in In the Rough, Disconnected really didn't provide sufficient payoff in the "comfort" area. I actually wrote this story right alongside In the Rough. It was a life saver, not to mention a story saver LOL! I'd work on the terrible things happening in one story, and when things just got too heavy-duty for me, I'd go play with Jack and the Archaeologists for a while.

This story waited four and a half years to be written. At last, Daniel's journey back to SG-1 has reached its last hurdle. He just needs the right motivation to get over that hurdle.
Though most deny it, all parents have a favorite child. This series is my favorite child. I really love music, and this series is my marriage between two of my great loves. You won't find much in the way of pain and suffering here--maybe a touch here and there. But this is pretty much "domestic" stuff.

This series is my favorite, and this story is my darling. From the first time I saw him, I decided Daniel was a guitarist. Those lovely, long-fingered hands need to be occupied with some activity like this :^) Combine this with my love for music and my obsession over Daniel's early life, and you get Private Artist

A party! A party! LOL! I couldn't resist bringing Ian, Jason and Beth back for an encore. And while I was at it, I decided to let my self indulgent imagination loose in my cupboard of favorite folk musicians. There's no point to this story other than having a really good time. Oh, and if you don't think Daniel Jackson is a pretty amazing man, you aren't going to like this story much ;^)

These two stories are also linked to the "Private Artist" stories. Katsuo is the story of Daniel's guitar. Progenitors is one of my "Daniel's Life" stories. It introduces two OFC's you'll meet in Soiree--Daniel's cousin Cynthia and her daughter Amanda.
I'm obsessed with Daniel's early years. A man as remarkable as Daniel Jackson must have had a pretty remarkable formative period to his life. These stories explore the life I've manufactured for him.

Stories about the life of a youngster aren't likely to be slash stories, and these three gen stories actually form the core of my "Daniel's Life" series. Journal isn't actually about Daniel. It's about someone very important to his very young self. In a Name deals with the question of why, despite the fact that almost everyone calls our archaeologist by his first name, almost nobody abbreviates that name. And, as mentioned above, Katsuo is the story of how young Daniel acquired that magic guitar.

I dropped the first hint about this story in Journal. Here we learn my version of Daniel's father's origins.
Along about the middle of season five, it was clear to many fans of Stargate that things were very unhappy for Daniel. Of course, we were all aware of the very sad situation on the "real life" side of the show, but it was also clear that Daniel himself was very unhappy. The nature of the job he was being asked to do had changed radically since those early, heady days of excited exploration through the gate. This series of stories grew out of my need to find some sort of future for him that could promise at least some kind of happiness and fulfillment.
By the way, Seaside, Oregon is a very real place, complete with spectacular beach and those wonderful dunes. I have extremely fond childhood memories of vacation days in this charming place. It probably isn't as small or charming any more, but I'm remaining stubborn about cherishing my memories LOL! Oh, and this may be sacreligious from the mouth of a native Washingtonian, but the coastline of Oregon has to be the most beautiful anywhere in the U.S.

Some potentially disastrous loose threads require tying up, with a little help from someone's connections in high places.

I figured I was finished with this series, but AmyCat drew my attention to a terrible lack in the life I'd created for Daniel and Jack. So I had to fix it.
This is a pair of tiny stories written for Ashton Press's first two issues of the zine Pretense. They are song-fics. That's one reason they are short ;^)

I adore the song from which this story derives. It comes from the wonderful Rockapella singing group. The second I heard it, I knew it was from Daniel for Jack.

Another great Rockapella song produced Jack's response to Daniel.
I'll admit it--I really like crossovers if they are well done and if they utilize characters with which I'm familiar (and whose execution is good). I've written only two of these to date, both crossing Stargate SG-1 with Profiler. The first of these is a gen story, but as they are a pair, I've included both here..

Wrong Turn came about because of a fascination with coincidences in name choice. Since writing this, I've become very aware of this. Why is it that a strong, intellectual woman on a television show is so likely to be named "Samantha"? Why are strong, commanding male characters so often "Jack"? At any rate, I was tickled by the name overlap between Stargate SG-1 and a show called Profiler, and this was the result. The following story, Teatime With the Gods, is the long-promised companion to this story. It wraps around Wrong Turn, and followed the events of that story from the SG-1 point of view. And it explains a few things Wrong Turn left hanging ;^)

Teatime With the Gods is the long-delayed companion to Wrong Turn. Here we discover how Daniel got in such a fix in the first place, just who wanted to get their greedy, sticky little hands on him, and how retribution fell upon their pretentious heads ;^) Have fun.
Some stories just happen because they do LOL! Most of my small stories end up in this category, mostly because they result from some little thing that tickles my fancy.

Breaker Breaker came about because of trucks. I live about five hours' drive away from the locale for the big yearly convention, MediaWestCon. Driving home from the con, about six months after I wrote my first story, my brain cooked this up. By the time I got home, all I had to do was rush in and put the words in the computer.

This is something I don't do much--an episode tag. This one is for Scorched Earth, an episode which drives me crazy. It has some wonderful elements, but Jack is unbearable from beginning to end. He makes one wrong decision after another, and nobody ever calls him to task for them. I don't really manage to do so here, either, but at least I set him up ;^)

Despite the what the title might suggest, this isn't a song'fic. I guess it's kind of an episode tag. In this case, the episode in question would be Divide and Conquer, an episode justly despised for too many reasons than I have space to go into here. This little thing centers on Sam, and a little voyage of self-discovery.

The inspiration for this story comes from yet another delightful song, introduced to me by Rockapella. The title of the song is Doorman of my Heart, and you can link to the full lyrics from the story. This is a story of discovery for Daniel, and a first time story.

Yet another story inspired by a song heard from Rockapella, though this is one that I understand has been recorded by a number of folks. The song title is the same as the story title, and the subject of the story is pretty much encompassed by the lyrics of the song LOL! I also used this story to practice something that's very difficult for me--writing in first-person present.

This was the first sizeable story I wrote, other than the "Disconnected" stories. It came from my appreciation for stories in which Daniel gets to solve problems by using his brain.

One of a grand total of two stories I'll ever write concerning The Season That Dare Not Speak Its Name. Though this is tongue-in-cheek, it clearly and adequately expresses my feelings about the situation following Season Five, and the "character" they introduced, known forever to me as "Cowpie," due to my inability to actually utilize the name they gave him. I guess this is a death-fic, though you have to actually be alive to be killed ;^) I wrote this off-the-cuff as an "entry fee" to a new Stargate list.
