What's Essential (Hard Times AU #1)

This is my first attempt at writing the Magnificent Seven. It's a little fantasy, which will make those who know me and my hard-headed skeptic's attitude laugh. I wanted to try my hand at the wonderful characterizations of The Seven, and decided to do it by indulging in that niggling little desire to see a certain impossible meeting.

This small story was actually a response to a challenge on the Vin Feedback list. I don't often do challenges, but this one sort of snuck up on me :^) The challenge was to write a story in which Vin either took a bath or took a shower. Now I ask you... who could resist that?

My very first AU! This story is the first part of what I'm calling the Hard Times AU. The story is set slightly in the future. At present, this is a closed AU, though I'd be willing to entertain the idea of others writing in the universe, providing they were willing to play by my rules. I started to toss this notion around in my brain the first time I saw Without a Trace. After all, if one Eric Close is delightful, two must be pretty ecstatic ;^) This story actually kicks off a series of stories about the ATF version of Vin Tanner and WaT's Martin Fitzgerald. I have many more stories planned in this little crossover universe. Sorry, but this universe is closed for the foreseeable future.
