This is a contemporary story about a woman who is part of an FBI special task force called the Violent Crimes Task Force, or the VCTF, operating out of Atlanta. The primary members of the team who appear in this story are:

Bailey Malone (Robert Davi), the agent in charge. Craggy, forty-five to fifty, a former profiler. Gruff and tough, but definitely the team's father figure.

John Grant (Julian MacMahon), hunk LOL! A former police officer, son of an Irish mobster, really gorgeous and also very smart. A very nice guy, but tough.

George Frayley (Peter Frechette), computer wizard (also gay, and my favorite character LOL!). George is a former naughty boy hacker who's cleaned up his act.

And of course, the title character, Dr. Samantha Waters (Ally Walker), blond, very pretty, brilliant. With a sort of strange, breathy mode of speech.

The only other piece of information pertinent to this story is the continuing thread that runs through all of Sam Waters' episodes of the series--the serial killer they call Jack of All Trades, because of his highly varied methods of killing his victims. He's very brilliant, very slippery, and obsessed with Sam Waters.
